[News] What's new over here?

Messagepar keila » 01 Mai 2006, 23:44

Hi Kris!

A topic to enable you to tell us more about what you are planning to do, where are you in your solo album, things like that.
In fact It's a topic to discuss about music in general : why and how did you begin to play music, how do you conceive music, what does it represent for you, things like that.
You can also talk about technic stuffs.

Your turn!
please... help me to fly!!!

Wow, lots of questions at once, let's see...
At this moment I'm putting my solo album aside to record my first album with my new band 'Dune'.
I'm now very busy in my studio with pre-production and the actual recordings will start in June and hopefully we'll be done by the end of July.
I'll give you all the details in a while.
The solo album is pretty much complete in my head and I have already started with recordings, but I'm in no hurry.
I'm also working on a homepage "kristoffergildenlow.com" which will see the light of day as soon as possible.

For me, music is communication!
A way to speak, with or without words.
It's always been there and it will always be there.
I get influenced by anything and everything in life and the inspiration comes whenever it feels like it.

Hope you got a few answers in there ;)

Peace!
Kristoffer

Kris, can I ask you how Dune sounds like ?

Is it metal (and then , what kind?) , progressive , or somethin' between , or maybe somethin' else ?
Please don't answer me that Dune sounds like Dune ! I know that , but i just wanna know if it's in the same musical feeling as POS for you , or if it's another experience ;)

Hi everyone!

Well, I think I'll take advantage of this space to make a bit of promotion for my self, how about that?!? ;)

I just want to keep you a bit up to date with what's coming up from my side shortly.
… without sounding pushy… ;)

Everything is set for the recordings of the first album for the band Dune.
The core or Dune is a trio, consisting of Liselotte Hegt (vocals and bass guitar), Rommer van der Meer (electric and acoustic guitars) and me (vocals, bass guitars, electric and acoustic guitars, keys and cello).
On this album we'll also bring Dirk Bruinenberg on drums and percussion (Patrick Rondat, Elegy, Adagio, Kamelot).
The album will be recorded, mixed and produced by Devon Graves (Dead Soul Tribe, Psychotic Waltz). Devon will also appear on vocals on a few songs.

The album will be recoded throughout June/July and hopefully be done early September.
At this point we haven't even been looking for a record deal as we want to act totally independent during the writing and recording sessions.
We will, however release a 500 copy, hand numbered, limited edition with a special art work through mail order and over internet.
More information about sales and pre-sales (yes you will actually be able to order the album before it's done... how cool is that *smile* ) will come later on.

So how about the music style?
I'll put up sample files on my homepage as soon as it's up and running.
The music we play is not to be compared with PoS; or if you're a dedicated metal freak, look elsewhere. ;)
The music of Dune comes from many different angles.
Me, Liselotte and Rommert all have different backgrounds and influences and we have just put everything we like into the mix.
You'll probably hear fragments from some of the following acts in there:
Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, Souxie and the Banshees, Kate Bush, Pink Floyd, Dalbello, Dive, Massive Attack and more.

Interesting enough?
Keep your eyes and ears open for more information.

Thank you for your time.

Peace!
Kristoffer

I love Dirk Bruinenberg's drums on Patrick Rondat's "An Ephemeral World", really awesome! I love Devon Graves too on Ayreon's "Human Equation" and Dead Soul Tribe!!! It'll be a really good album, I'm sure!

I think I'll be one of the 500 luckies :D

Thanks for the news!

Thanks for all these informations in exclusivity Kristoffer, and for preventing us about the pre-sales. All this seems really tasty and I can't wait to listen to this album !

Only 500 ! The struggle will be tough ! :P

This Dune project looks really exciting (Porcupine Tree, Dive, Kate Bush... it could have been worst influences ;-)), thank you very much for these enlightnings !

ps: sharon is right, the "struggle" will be tough with only 500 copies available, but we are civilized people isn't it ?
